A Diamond in the Rough

I am happy to meet you back at the house. Ya all come in and take a look at some of the things we find dirty....but charming.
Of course there is Prince Charming himself, Demo Dave, scratching his head and thinking
"What in the world have I got myself in to?
This is the living room with it's pocket doors that lead into the
dining room. And here is a wonderful
old mantel.

This room is found down the hall and to the left and it is the Master Bedroom. The door next to the mantel leads into another bedroom. We are going to close that off and make a closet.
Now I know ya all want my carpet. You can have it really you can.

The door off to the right is the bath. Wait until you see this little pretty.

Pretty Scary that is.

Back to the Mantel in the living room. It is placed at an angle which is pretty neat.

So there you have today's tour. We will be working on the house this weekend so

I will post more on Monday. Have a great weekend.

Becky

Hi Becky,
The mantles are gorgeous! Do you plan to leave them white or strip them? I'll bet there's beautiful quarter sawn oak under all that paint. What a delimma, but what fun!
Have a great weekend!

Your cottage is charming. It is fun to see the restoration of this true treasure. Thank you for sharing it all with us.

Maybe one day we can travel your way and stay in it when it becomes a bed and breakfast.

By the way you are beautiful and your demo dave is quite a catch! Bless you both.

How is your Florida home doing? Have you sold it?

What a gorgeous mantel! I'm so excited to watch your progress on this house. It is such a beauty already (although a little rough around the edges) but it has such character and beauty. It will make a truly lovely B&B.

Hi Becky,
Everytime I see more pic I just can't believe how beautiful it is and how intact all the old architecture is! You and Dave are sooo lucky. Good luck with this horrible storm I don't know how much that will affect you in Alabama but I'm praying that it goes away!!

Oh my.... I thought the last mantel was gorgeous... but THIS one...*thud*... my smelling salts!!

Now I hafta ask, as I'm *assuming* you like the woodwork all painted. Aren't you glad it was already all painted and you don't have to feel guilty painting over original trim?!
I like both natural and painted trim. But I lean more towards painted, tho it depends on the home and decor.
So I'd feel grateful the dirty deed was already done~ and if you like it better natural, oh the agony of having to strip all of that. I think the fretwork would be impossible, lol!

Bring on the bathroom, this is so much fun!!
