Welcome to this House of Mine

Come on up the steps and lets go through the door but first let's look at a few thing on the porch.
One day I hope that we will share a cup of tea together on this porch. I have since placed an old swing that I couldn't part with from my shop right behind me. It is so much fun to watch the cars go by often with cameras in hand trying desperately to get a quick passing shot. For now the house is white or rather dirty white. The house sits on the main road and it causes the white to get so dirty. This is the stained glass window over the living room window. See if you can find something about the window that the previous owners must not have noticed upon installation and leave me a comment. It adds to the charm. If you look closely there is a little handle that turns and it rings a bell. The owner added way to many locks to the door but he was in his 90's and I suppose it made him feel safer.

So this is just a peek for the day. Next post we will go in. Will you come back? Good.
I'll get the tea ready.
Becky

Hello Becky,
Oh my goodness, we share the same dream! However,my hubby has no desire to live in an old home. They have such character. I will be back for sure! I can hardly wait to see the inside. Best wishes on your dream!!

Hi Becky,
You'll probably get tired of hearing me say it, but your house is so beautiful. Dirty white paint and all! Is the window painted shut? The wreath is beautiful! Shall I bring the scones?
May the Lord bless you today!

Hi Becky,
I had to laugh when you made the comment about the window. I took a good look and wasn't able to see where it slid up and down. I'm one of those fanatical victorian house people who struggles with my obsession. Yes! Obsession...I hate to admit it, but it's true. I went to design school because I wanted to do historic restoration and interiors. So I get to check in with you and live vicariously through your process. I've come to the conclusion that the Lord will never allow me to have a victorian here because I will end up worshipping it. I know this about myself...hee hee! But I also know that He is creating something far more beautiful then anything I could imagine here on earth. And He's creating one for you too! I've requested ruby floors :). What kind would you like?

OK was that more information then you needed and are you aware of Bradbury & Bradbury wallpapers? I don't want to get you in trouble with the Captain, but you should look at their website. I think it's www.bradbury.com.
Have a wonderfully blessed evening!
XO Cori

Oh. My. Gosh. Your home is breathtaking! I can't wait to see more...do keep posting...quickly! LOL

Oh, and my thought was the window was put in upside down, as the wreath and its bow seem to be defying gravity. :-)

Hello,
I love your blog. I love everything Victorian, your porch is wonderful!!! The window is very much up-side down, and the long hall were usually made to keep the house cool in the summer (down south, as you are). Enjoy your house, I can't wait to see all that you will do to it.

The window is definitely upside down, but like you said it adds to the charm. I like stained glass. We had a stained glass window above the vestibule of a house we rented when I was young. I still miss that place.

I'm seeing the stained glass window UP SIDE DOWN !! Isn't that just the most awesome thing...the lady of the house MUST have not supervised the installation and by the time she saw it, it was already set in all the caulking and etc.... hmmmm, these things do make for a great old B&B....
