Looking for the perfect Shade

I love to find a great vintage lamp and I especially love to find them with their lampshades.
When they don't have their shade then I play a loosing game of , "Will The Lampshade Fit?"
Can anyone tell me how to figure out the perfect size shade for a lamp?
I thought this was a great idea for a great old lampshade frame.

I love how this one swirls to the side.

I love the added embellishment.

And here is what you do with the ones that you buy that don't fit.
Have a party with your friends!

I'll be passing out the hats.

What a darling collection of lamp shades, but what I'd like to know is who is the divine lady behind the first picture...I love her gown.

So Becky my friend, my theory on lamp shades is that if they're pleasing to the eye and fit well with the base then you have a winner. What matters most is that you love it after all you're the one who lives with it. Lamps can be tricky things ;-).

I have a hard time with lamp shades too. I have a bridge lamp that I bought that doesn't have one at all. I can't seem to decide what I what (that I can afford), what fits right, or even how to put it on. It looks like I will just hang off of the bulb. Be sure and post any tips that you get!

I have this same problem with lampshades! When I see them 'cheap' I buy them anyway. The same thing with lamp bases. Sometimes I get lucky and can put some together that look great. I love all of yours.

I am loving the lamp shade in the first pic, it's very pretty. Of course the last picture is sure an option!

Oh, I love the first lamp shade, so pretty!

I play the same game. I seem to always find a pretty lamp but the shade is gone. Where do the shades go?

LOL Love the last pic. :-) You know, I can never pic shades unless I take the lamp to the store with me...that's the only way that works for me. :-) Becky, the house you asked about...it's a gray color. I LOVE yours! I's soooo love to live in an historic home one day! :-)

Hi my friend Becky,

I just wanted to say thanks for your sweet words of encouragement about my blog. There are days when I think about walking away from it and then someone leaves a comment like yours.
I too feel lucky to have found you!!!

Much love, Cori

Oh!! The Cat's Meow...I love that store although I've only visited in the virtual world...you are one lucky lady to be able to visit in person!!

I hope you have a blessed day!!!

Becky, to answer your question, whites, creams and browns still sell well for me, but I do like to mix in blues, greens and pinks occassionally. I've even been hearing that customers are wanting more color to come back. I think just a touch of color is always good. Thanks for asking my opinion, you are so sweet and for always commenting on my blog. I so appreciate you!!

I love that first lampshade!!!

I think that paint color you saw on the 7th house on my blog today is sort of a green-brown. Almost a dark dark khaki color. There are a lot of houses around here painted that color and they all have black trim. The house right above it, #6 is a lighter shade with black trim.

Hi Becky, I'm trying to catch up with everybody, so here I am. I agree with Cori concerning lamp shades. The ones you have shown are so nice, especially the first one. I have some lamps that are still without the shades- still looking for the perfect one.
