I've been to London to visit the Queen, Queen of Shabby Chic that is. Rachel Ashwell.
As mentioned in my previous post, Rachel Ashwell has been a big influence in my life.

What I didn't tell you was that I was actually going to be able to meet her.
This month found my husband traveling to London on business and the beauty of his business is that I get to go along on some of his trips. It just so happened that the trip lined up perfectly with Rachel's Grand Opening of her new shop in London and there was going to be a party.

Floating down the stairs to speak to her guests, our gracious hostess took time to warmly greet each one of us.
Her shop was filled with many well wishers so I couldn't really get pictures of how beautiful everything was inside. But that was fine with me. It just meant another trip back and she encouraged me to do so as she would be there for the next week or so. I couldn't think of a better place to come while hubby was working and I couldn't think of anyone else in London that I wanted to spend time with except the Queen. And so I did!

I'm swooning...how lucky are you!!!! How I love her and all that she's brought to the world of design...her rebirth of all of those vintage rose fabric designs make my heart go pitter patter. I a huge vintage fabric collector.
She has had an interesting life and journey...I know full well she has a better eye on her wealth and how it's managed from here on out. I admire her for picking up the pieces like a lady and pushing forward with more beauty to offer us.
I know you are still giddy from being able to attend the opening of her London shop!
So glad I stopped by and caught this post.

That's awesome! Isn't it great traveling with the husband, I get to do that sometimes too.
How exciting!! I am leaving for London with my family in a couple of weeks to visit old friends who are living there now. I am adding this store to my list of "must see" places! Thanks so much for letting us know about the grand opening.

Now that's what I call a business trip! I'm sure her shop was just beautiful. BTW, I'll be at your place at 6am, will you be ready *wink* Have a great rest of the day and do I wish you'd come to Texas and go junkin with me just once.
How wonderful and exciting for you to go to London and to meet Rachel Ashwell, Becky! I'm sure her shop is awesome.
I've read your last post as well. Your house is beautifully decorated! You've put a lot of work into it to make it look so fabulous. Every time we were on vacation in Florida, we watched a lot of HGTV. Unfortunately we don't have a station like that in Germany. What a shame, I miss that very much. I remember one episode of "If Walls Could Talk" where a couple had bought a lovely old house and then found lots of suitcases and boxed in the attic. They all had been filled with vintage linen, laces and other wonderful treasures. I was drooling for days over all their great finds.
Have a great weekend!
