Back to the Long Hall

We've been working.
Do you remember the Long Hall?
And remember my Darling Demo Dave. Well, he has been a busy boy.
Up went the carpet and down came the wall paper.

Then we had the ceilings drywalled because of the falling plaster.

Next the cracked walls were fixed and then we painted.

And painted and painted and painted some more.

Dave refinished the floors and then the fun began
Between trips back and forth I was sewing. I had enough fabric to go half the distance of a football field. With each window measuring 140 inches top to bottom and each window needing 2 panels I knew we could not afford this project right now. So what I decided to do just may be something that will work for some of you. I purchased the insulated lining for curtains. It was $5.99 less my 40% off coupon at JoAnn Fabrics. It is a perfect weight and almost, a little bit, well sort of if you look really hard and with wishful eyes, looks like velvet. I sewed 10 panels.
On a shopping trip for my shop we stopped in Madison GA and I found these 2 vintage lace valances. They have been waiting for me to find the perfect spot. So I topped the panels with them.
And the long hall is starting to take shape.
This old rug is really worn but I love the colors in it. It never fails when I go to Eufaula no matter how well I plan I forget something or it is still being used in our home in FL so it will be interesting to see how time will change this Shabby Old House.
I will be posting the bathroom on Saturday. Can you guess why?
Pink Saturday!

Ooooh when?? Sounds like fun to me!! I just kind of threw that together. Really. I was thinking last night, because I like to move things around so much but I want sconces on my fireplace, that I could have Jeff mount them on the wood and just have them plug in intead of mounted to the wall, what do you think?

HI Becky,
The hall looks so beautiful! It's hard to imagine that it looked so bad before hee hee! Isn't it amazing what a little elbow grease and creativity can do?
Love the new banner! I did have a couple ideas if you wanted me to play with it, tho. Let me know.
Have a fun day!

Oh Becky I am so jealous!
I wish I lived closer...I'd come and help!
I love love love restoring old homes!

Our last home was an 1856 victorian farmhouse!
We restored it and moved onto a 1900s horse farm and renovated this and now I am itching for an old victorian that needs me!
Hubby wants to take a break for awhile!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us.... I will be here every step with yous!

WOW. Those floors are gorgeous! Love the wall color, is it SW Blonde by chance?

You two have certainly been busy!

Now I know this isn't RMS... but there are two little things that I would do if it were me, lol...
I would lower the curtain rods to show off the wood work. And I would paint that half/wall ceiling area just beyond the fretwork and chandy the same color as the walls istead of the ceiling color. Or is it just the pic? I hope that makes sense!

Good thinking on the lining, then you can use it for lining later if need be.
Looks beautiful!!

I bet it smells so nice now with the old carpet and paper gone.

Love the rug!

I know I said it before but I was looking at your pictures again. I LOVE the valances. Great find!
In response to the comment you left me--I love the theater too. My parents always took us when we were kids and now I volunteer at the local theater and I go to a couple of others that are within an hour or too.
Can you email me, so that I can send you an email back. I have a question that I could use someones opinion on.

Hi Becky,
I emailed you earlier today, but wasn't sure if you got it. I played a bit with your fabric and came up with something. I'll email to your laceandlures.
Hope you have a great tomorrow.
God bless,
Cori
