We're going in! This is what we look at as we step through the front door. I think that I could make this a bowling alley or dance hall. I'm kidding of course. This is one of those rooms that you can see the floors all polished slick and the kids running and sliding all the way down on their knees. I am not well educated on Victorian houses so if any of you know why they would make such a long hall I am currious to know.
There is a wonderful Spindled arch above.
Then we have carpet. Dirty, ugly, carpet which I am sure was added to help insulate the floors.
And looking off to the right you will see either a bedroom or a Ladies Parlor. I feel it was used as a bedroom but perhaps intended for the other. This is my favorite mantle in the house. I will take a close up picture of it once it is painted. There are five such mantels in the house. As a former shop keeper I loved finding these at flea markets. They were expensive to say the least but something that everyone wanted me to find for them.
So there you have the first peek inside. As you can see it will be a long hall/haul ahead of us but one day.....She will be a Swan.
Until then...

Hi Becky,
I have to remember that you have this new site! My goodness you are one lucky girl. This is my dream. Is there one next door to you that I can buy???LOL. We could retire someday there next to each other, doesn't that sound good. Rockin and tea, while the hubbys fish and we could shop and talk decorating. Okay on that windo, it is hard to see it good in the picture but is there a bow in the center that is upside down?

Hi Becky,
I'm going to add this one to my fav's list. Yeah I was right about the window! I just noticed I left the "W"off window in my last post, I was hurrying and I should really stop and check myself. Oh well, talk soon.

It's me again, stop by my blog, I hope you don't mind but I did a post about your blog??

Actually the long hall would have been an early form of cooling. Shot gun houses were popular then too. Two doors left open on each end would pull the air through and act like air conditioning. Well at least air conditioning like they would have known it. Certainly not us! :-) I love the house. It's beautiful. Lucky you.

Oh my, that gingerbread piece in the hall is stunning. I think you have a jewel, she just needs to be spiffed up to show her beauty.

Hi Becky,
I think the long hall had something to do with air flow through the house. Plus you need a hall to access the doors to the other rooms. Your entry looks gorgeous! Is it a single story? Where's the staircase? I have all these questions :).
